The Pacific Mini Games open today in the Northern Marianas.
American Samoa is competing in golf with Amelie Chen and, father and daughter sprinters, Stanley and Filomenaleonisa Iakopo.
The Iakopos begin their competition on Monday our time when the preliminaries for, both, the men’s and women’s 100 meter and 200 meter races are held, immediately followed by the finals.
In the Oceania Athletics Championship earlier this week, Filomenaleonisa ran her personal best 100m 13.22 seconds and her 200m 27.95 seconds. “She’s consistently dropping her time and getting faster and faster,” said her father.
Stanley an Air Force reservist said, “We are honored and proud to represent our people and our territory, We pray and thank the Lord for his blessings, and thank the people of Amerika Samoa for their love and support.”
