A team from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, CMS, arrived in the territory last night.
As with other visits by the federal agency this is on unannounced visit to check on progress made by the hospital to correct deficiencies cited during their last inspection.
There are three members on the team.
Reports from hospital staff said today the team went over the areas they want information on and checking on the Plans of Correction from their last visit..four years ago.
CMS is the federal agency which certifies the hospital to provide care for Medicaid and Medicare patients. The hospital needs to pass CMS certification in order to qualify for reimbursements from the federal agency for the care of Medicare and Medicaid patients.
The CMS visit comes as the LBJ CEO Moefaauo William Emmsley is attending a meeting off island. Chief Financial Officer Fala Sualevai is acting CEO.
