Palolo failed to rise on America Samoa reefs this month, with some people chasing the annual delicacy over three nights ending last night without a whiff of “the fish”.
This morning, Alega resident and long time palolo hunter, Tisa Fa’amuli, owner of Tisa’s Barefoot Bar, told KHJ News that there were some but small and not ready and she will stick to her earlier prediction of palolo rising in November, this year.

But it was good news for hunters in most parts of Savai’i, especially on the north-western villages where there have been reports of a large rising.
Photos posted on social media showed buckets full of the wriggling delicacy, some saying the biggest catches went to those who went out by boat.
A matai from one of these villages, who did not want to be identified, told KHJ News this morning that there was a lot of palolo and it was good, if there were many from each family.
“Not good for small families, and there are now too many people from Apia and other villages with this palolo festival by the government,” he said.
It is usual that the first rising in October occurs in Savai’i, with the second rising, in November, occurs more rises on Upolu.
