Certification papers confirming the selection of a new senator for Tuala-tai district have been submitted to the Office of Samoan Affairs.
The new senator is Tuiasina Dr. Laumoli from Vailoa. He was selected at a meeting of the district, held Saturday.
He fills the vacancy created by the passing of Paramount Chief Satele Galu Satele.
Other names, which were put forward at the meeting, were former senator Tuiasina Esera and Maaelopa Bob Tuiasosopo.
Tuiasina who retired from the Department of Health for several years, returned to work on contract and was overseeing the Leone Health Clinic. He was also working in the ASG office in Honolulu after retirement.
