The Senate has confirmed Falenaoti Loi-On Fruean to serve as Director of the Department of Port Administration. The vote for the Director nominee was 17-0.
Loi-On Fruean, who joined Port Administration in 1994, faced a brief confirmation hearing before the vote.
Senators praised her long service to the government and said, that her experience and knowledge of all aspects of port and airport operations make her well qualified for the Director position.
Senator Faiivae Alex Iuli said that DPA was a large department with so many functions and responsibilities, which undoubtedly will cause stress and worry for the Director. He advised Loi-On Fruean to delegate and share the responsibilities with her staff.
If confirmed by the House, Loi-On Fruean would be the second woman to head Port Administration, the first being Taimalelagi Dr. Claire Poumele during the Lolo Lemanu administration.
