Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga has appointed Representative Vailoata Eteuati Amituanai to the Immigration Board.

In an April 27 letter to Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean and House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale, Governor Lemanu said he was submitting his appointment of Representative Vailoata for review by the Legislature.

Vailoata replaces former Representative Vaetasi Tuumolimoli Moliga, whose term expired last month.

Vaetasi was the only sitting faipule from the last legislature who didn’t seek re-election in the last general elections.

The Governor said, of Vailoata, that he “possesses the requisite knowledge and understanding of the role of the Immigration Board in protecting our borders and preserving economic opportunities for the people of American Samoa.”

Unless the Governor calls a special session, the Fono is adjourned until the second Monday of July.
