Exhilarating is how one of the ham operators who traveled to Swains Island described the experience of living on an uninhabited island for more than 10 days.
Adrian Ciuperca, a New York- based ham operator, was one of 10 people in the WBS Swains DX expedition, accompanied to the island by Swains Rep. Su’a Alex Jennings and his wife and family members.
The trip was delayed more than 2 years because of COVID.
Ciuperca said they were able to share photos and videos of Swains with people all over the world.
And he’s certain that their trip has made waves generating interest and demand for more expeditions to the island in the future.
Several members of the Jennings family also made the trip to Swains.
