Leone wins big at 1st Mosooi Fest siva competition

Leone High School made a clean sweep at the 1st Annual Siva Competition for the Mosooi Festival of Arts and Humanities Saturday at Utulei Beach.

The home of the Lions topped all of the categories: mauluulu, faataupati, sasa and contemporary siva.

Leone also topped the siva faataupou, best taupou wear and best uniform. Leone High School also won the instructor award.

Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School was first runner up, and Samoana High School was second runner up.

Other schools, which competed were Fagaitua, Tafuna, Kananafou and Marist Faasao.

The judges were Okenaisa Fauolo Manila, Tuifaasisina Korina Lee, Pati Pati Jr., Henry Sataraka and Matauaina Whitcombe.

The first prize was $5,000 and the prize for topping each of the categories was $500. Second place was $4,000 and third place took $3,000.

The next event for the Mosooi Fest is the Tamaitai Talks at 6pm today at the ASCC Multipurpose Center featuring the five contestants for the Miss Mosooi Scholarship Pageant.

They will be discussing research topics that they are passionate about.

  • Jeval Faletolu-Miss Fagatogo Youth
