ASCC student Naleigh Hudson is the new Miss Mosooi

Eighteen-year-old Naleigh Hudson, sponsored by All Star Signs, was crowned the new Miss Mosooi Saturday night at the Lee Auditorium. The daughter of Sina and Duffy Hudson, she is a student at the American Samoa Community College with roots in Ofu, Manu’a, Falealupo and Safotu, Savaii.

Naleigh also won the award for ofu laulaau, talent, on stage interview and modern puletasi. She also topped Miss Internet.

The designers of her winning outfits received $1,000 cash prize and a ticket to the Las Vegas Fashion Show.

In the pageant interview, Naleigh was asked if crowned Miss Mosooi, how would she use her platform to help decrease the frequency of domestic violence in American Samoa.

She confidently gave this reply.

First runner up was Miss Fagatogo Youth Jeval Faletolu, who also topped Tamaitai Talks and Best Samoan Siva. Second runner up was Precious Lisala, while Angelina Fidow won Miss Congeniality.

There was loud applause for the outgoing Miss Mosooi Nellie Tuigamala when she gave her final speech and performed her siva before giving away the crown.

Spectators complimented the Agency for Better Living Endeavors and the Mosooi Festival team, mostly young people, for the very well organized pageant with many suggesting that they take over the annual Miss American Samoa Pageant.
