Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Caroline Sinavaiana Gabbard, and sending condolences to the entire Gabbard family and all the many who will miss her.
“I am deeply saddened by the sudden, tragic loss of Dr. Caroline Sinavaiana Gabbard. Caroline represented the Samoan people and culture so well through her literary work. Through her skilled writing and poetry, her life’s work will live on. The shocking circumstances of her death will not diminish her legacy and achievements that bring pride to Samoans everywhere. In fact, a new generation will discover these works at this time.
“My prayers are with her grieving family and loved ones, and I’ve had a long friendship with her brother, Hawaii Senator Mike Gabbard, who is my aiga, and Caroline’s niece, my former colleague Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who I could always count on to work with us in bipartisanship on behalf of American Samoa and all the Pacific Islands. May God comfort them all, and I pray the authorities in Samoa discover all the answers and information in these terrible circumstances.”
“We thank God for Caroline, whose creative and expressive life of learning and academic career as a professor have helped shine a light for years on our beautiful Samoan culture.”
