The Board of Directors of the LBJ Tropical Medical Center has received 10 applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer of the LBJ Hospital.
Chairman of the Board, Mualeava Dr. Aifili John Tufa, says the deadline was extended from September 4 to October 4 because only two applications were submitted by the end of the September 4 deadline. “We decided to extend the deadline to get a larger pool of applicants,” he said.
At its meeting later this month, the board will review and screen the ten applications received. Dr. Tufa said they will set an interview date if they decide to have one with this pool of candidates.
“This is a crucial position for our territory and we as a board want to make sure that we select the right person,” said the board Chairman.
The CEO position became vacant after the board removed former CEO Dr. Akapusi Ledua in August. Dr. Ledua is now reported to have moved to Alaska.
Dr. Aitofele James Sunia is currently serving as Acting CEO of the LBJ Hospital.
