In just 21 days voters will go to the polls to elect a Governor and Lt Governor, a Delegate to the US Congress and 20 of the 21 members of the American Samoa House of Representatives.

This evening the three teams that are vying in the 2024 gubernatorial race will be in one room together for the first time this campaign season, fielding questions on various topics.

The event is the American Samoa Bar Association Gubernatorial Forum at the Lee Auditorium beginning at 6 pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm.

The moderator for the Forum is attorney Sharron Rancourt who previously operated a private law firm in the territory and is now a federal deputy public defender in the state of Hawaii.

Questions for the Forum were provided by the public and also members of the Bar.

Candidates have the option of answering the questions in either English or Samoan.

The Bar Association invites the public to attend. KVZK-TV will live stream the Forum.

The only other group which hosted a forum for the gubernatorial candidates was the Womens Coalition of American Samoa…however the teams appeared on separate dates unlike this evening’s forum.
