The Board of Directors of the LBJ Tropical Medical Center has selected a new CEO for the LBJ Hospital.
However, Board Chairman Mualeava Dr. Aifili John Tufa told KHJ News that a formal announcement will be made after they have informed the unsuccessful candidates and the new CEO has resigned from his present position and signs his contract.
The chairman said the board took three days to come to a decision. There were two days of interviews and many hours of deliberations on the third day before they arrived at their decision.
There were ten applicants for the position, which became vacant after the board removed former CEO Dr. Akapusi Ledua in August. Dr. Aitofele James Sunia has been Acting CEO.
Board member Rep. Faimealelei Anthony Allen gave some clues about the new CEO during the opening of the new operating room of the LBJ Hospital last Friday when he said the board has selected a son of American Samoa, whose father is a doctor and mother was a nurse.
KHJ News understands that the new CEO is Scott Anesi, who’s presently the Chief Epidemiologist at the Department of Health.
