There was a complaint about a campaign sign being too close to the polling place in the Leone and in some polling stations, voters were turned away without voting because their names had been purged from the voter roll.

Police also responded to a report about vandalism of campaign signs in Amanave.

Election law requires that political signage, including bill boards must be 100 feet away from the place of voting. But a billboard in Leone was less than 100 feet away from the polling place. Deputy Election Commissioner said they have resolved the billboard issue in Leone.

Iliili

Tavai  said the names of voters who haven’t voted in the last two consecutive elections have been purged from the voter roll. The Election Office had been publicizing that voters in this category should come to the Election Office to get new voter ids. He said team leaders and staff at the polling places have been told that if a voter’s name is not on the voter roll  they cannot cast ballots today.

Around 10:30 am police received a report about a campaign sign being vandalized at Amanave.

Manu’a District #1-DYWA Tafuna

These have been the only election related incidents reported so far.

KHJ News checked in with three polling stations on the west side. As of 9:30 am morning about 150 people had voted at the polling station in Iliili. Team Leader Asenati Tali said there was a steady stream of voters in the first two hours and, so far, there were no questions or issues from voters.

Nu’uuli

The Manu’a polling stations at the DWYA Gym in Tafuna were not very busy when we checked in around 10 am. Lagima Lagima the Team Leader for the polling station for Manu’a District #1 said more than 150 voters had come in earlier and cast their ballots. She told KHJ News that they did not encounter any issues from voters and the morning had gone smoothly.

At Nu’uuli, Team Leader Dr Celestine Faumuina Nix said its been a busy morning.
