The team of Vaitautolu Talia Iaulualo and Maefau Dr. Mary Taufetee has declared their support for Candidate for Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula and candidate for Lt. Governor Pulu Ae Ae Jr. for the run off election next Tuesday.
The endorsement was publicly announced at a joint meeting of the Vaitautolu and Taufetee Campaign Committee and the Pula and Pulu Committee, last Friday.
Vaitautolu said in an interview with KHJ News, “We went into this campaign on a platform for change…a change in administration. So we are continuing with that platform by endorsing the team that will make the change. We have asked all our supporters to vote for Pula and Pulu to realize our goal of changing our government.”
Looking at the election results, Vaitautolu said it’s very clear that the majority of voters (64%) voted for change. And he and Taufetee are throwing their support behind Pula and Pulu in order to carry out the wish of the majority of voters, to bring about a change in leadership.
He said while it’s up to each individual to decide who they want to vote for in the run off, they have appealed to their supporters that if they want change, the only option is to vote for the team that shared their vision for change, and that is Pula and Pulu.
He added, “I expect that our supporters will stand with us.”
Vaitautolu said in the one week left before the run off, their camp has pledged to work together with and support the Pula and Pulu campaign. He related that since election night, both, he and Taufetee and their supporters have been aggressively approached by the Lemanu and Laapui team to join them. For their part, they are working to maintain the support of those who voted for Vaitautolu and Taufetee on Election Day in order to elect Pula and Pulu in the run off.
At the meeting of the two camps on Friday, Candidate for Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula thanked Vaitautolu and Taufetee, their committee and supporters for their decision to unite with the Pula and Pulu camp. He said it was time to take back the government, adding that the government does not belong to just the Governor, Lt. Governor, Cabinet, their friends and relatives, but to everyone. He said the hard work comes after the election. He and Pulu are ready to serve and will depend on God and the support of everyone. He said our goal is to secure a better future for our children.
