There were 15 applications for the position of Executive Director of the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund.
Four were from off island, while the rest were local applicants. Applications for the position closed on October 11.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Retirement Fund, Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean says they will begin interviewing the applicants next Monday. The interviews will continue the following week.
He said there was discussion about shortlisting the applicants, however, the board decided to interview all 15 individuals who submitted applications.
The position of Executive Director of the government pension plan became vacant after the resignation of Vaitautolu Talia Iaulualo earlier his year, to run in the gubernatorial election.
According to the advertisement for the position, applicants should have 10 years experience in executive or trustee position, financing and or banking, public trust fund and program management, human relations and personnel management, mortgage and investment, investment management and oversight and economic development and strategies.
Education requirements listed in the ad are minimum Bachelor’s degree, but a Master’s degree is preferred, that is MBA or related field.
Deputy Director Caroline Wendt has been serving as acting Executive Director.
