The Chairman of the Committee in charge of the new hospital project, Director of Health Motusa Tuileama Nua says a contract has not been signed with the construction company that they have been negotiating with. The company is Eastern Construction Company, headed by Mr Daniel Myung.
Motusa told KHJ News that their committee has put everything on hold for now and will await guidance from Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga on whether to proceed.
He said the Governor needs to discuss with the incoming leaders what their position is regarding the new hospital.
Motusa commented, “Our committee has agreed not to proceed with a contract award until we hear from the Governor.”
During one of the gubernatorial forums, Governor-elect Pulaalii Nikolao Pula gave this view about the new hospital project.
