A new senator for Manu’a District #2, which includes Ofu, Olosega and Sili is to be sworn in this morning and will serve the remainder of the term of former senator Malaepule Saite Moliga. The new senator is High Chief Lualemaga Sofeni Lualemaga.
Malaepule vacated the senate seat when he gave up the Malaepule title. He told KHJ News that he is taking up the title of Taaga from Fitiuta. Because he no longer carries the Malaepule title, he can no longer serve as senator for Ofu, Olosega and Sili.
The swearing in of High Chief Lualemaga will take place before the Senate reconvenes for the final five days of the 38th Legislature.
