Schools closed due to heavy weather

Anticipated thunder storms, strong winds and heavy rain has resulted in all public schools being closed today. And most private schools are following suit.

Director of Education Maefau Dr Mary Taufetee issued a notice last evening that safety of students is DOE’s priority and based on the weather reports from the National Weather Service all public schools will be closed today.

The director said that the all schools will implement virtual learning. Parents were told to keep their children at home until further notice.

All Catholic schools, Kanana-fou schools, SPICC, Samoa Baptist and Iakina Adventist Academy are all closed.

Pacific Horizons School is still holding class and Manumalo Academy is also opened today.

The National Weather service says there is a small break in the weather this morning but watches and advisories are still in place. Meanwhile we can expect bad weather through the weekend. Here’s Joe LaPlante from the National Weather Service with more:
