Who will be on the ballot in November?

While three teams have publicized and announced their candidacies for the 2024 gubernatorial race, a fourth team has picked up a nominating petition for the election of Governor and Lt. Governor.

Both candidates in this fourth team are women.

The Election Office advises that it’s up to the candidates if they will disclose their identities, otherwise their office will not release their names until after the deadline for the filing of nomination petitions at 4:30pm, September 9.

For the Congressional race, three individuals, all women have taken out nomination petitions. The two who have announced their candidacies are Aumua Amata and Luisa Kuaea.

For the House of Representatives, of June 26, 27 men and women have picked up nomination documents.

There are many young professionals among those who have taken out forms with the intention of being on the ballot in November.

The Election Office reports that some have returned their nomination petitions with the required signatures.
