Nine fautasi competing in Bluesky 4th of July race

All nine fautasi that participated in the April Flag Day fautasi race will compete in Bluesky’s Fourth of July race on Thursday.

The race is part of the phone company’s 25th anniversary celebration, It will be a three mile race and the starting time is 7:30 am, which may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Bluesky is offering a total purse of $60,000 for the race.

The winner gets $10,000, 2nd place wins $8,000, 3rd place wins $6,000 and the fautasi that place 4th to 9th place will take home $4,000.

All fautasi captains have been given the rules of the race and lanes have been drawn.

5. Manu’atele Matasaua
6. Aua Paepaeulupoo
7. Fagasa Fealofani Samoa

9. Nu’uuli Lowrider

The start of the race will be signaled by a red flag on the Committee’s boat, Uila o le Sami, switching to green. Simultaneously a horn will be sounded on VHF radios which will be given to all fautasi captains.

Bluesky’s Fautasi Cace Committee members are Blue Sky CEO Justin Tuiasosopo, Harbor Master Puamavae Ah-Mai, and President of American Samoa Rowing Association Louis Solaita, with the assistance of Port Administration, NOAA Weather station, Marine Patrol, DMWR and Tim Teleso.
