A Maluafou College student in Samoa who was injured in a school brawl on Monday has been discharged from hospital, but cannot sit school exams which started this week.

Five students of St. Josephs College, aged 18-20, have been arrested and charged with assault, causing harm and armed with weapons, in connection with a fight that resulted in the student’s injuries.

This was the second fight between Maluafou and St. Joseph’s in a fortnight.

Meanwhile, the principals of Maluafou College and St. Joseph’s College met with the Samoa Police on Tuesday morning.

Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo says, “It was a constructive and fruitful meeting between both parties on how to improve our collaboration and information sharing, as well as identifying and discussing new strategies on how we can deal with school fights as it seems the solutions we have right now are not working.”
