A five-week free Dog Spay & Neuter Village Outreach Clinic will be held October 18-November 19.

The Department of Health (DOH) Veterinary Services says the free clinic, which will be held in 19 villages of Tutuila and Manua, is made possible through the generous support of the animal welfare non-profit, Coconut Mutts (https://coconutmutts.org) and local partners.

This initiative aims to control the stray dog population, which has become a growing issue in villages, schools, churches, and public spaces, posing a risk to community health.

There will be no walk-ins. All dogs must be scheduled in advance, and you can make an appointment by calling 699-9445, sending a message via Facebook on the ASG DOH Animal Services profile, emailing info.animalservices@doh.as or stopping by the Tafuna Veterinary Clinic.

Cats are not included. Cat surgeries will be handled separately at the Tafuna Veterinary Clinic.

There will be no health checks during this project. These services are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the clinic.

Dog owners can only have 3 adult dogs at this free clinic. Female dogs are the priority, especially for those unable to afford surgery.

No pick-up services are available. Owners must transport their dogs to the scheduled location.
