The Fono opening was followed by the christening of the MV Manu’atele at the inter island dock.
Rev. Elder Ioane Evagelia of the Utulei CCCAS gave the prayer while the Vicar General of the Diocese of Samoa Pago Pago, Monsignor Viane Etuale sprinkled the boat with holy water. 
First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga and Mrs Gail Kruse wife of Chief Justice Lealaialoa Michael Kruse performed the traditional blessing with
coconut milk while the captain and crew lined up on the Manu’atele deck.
Speakers at the christening included Senate President Gaoteote Palaie, Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega, Manu’a District Governor Misalaefua Hudson and Governor Lolo Moliga.
Guests then took a tour of the Manu’atele.
