The day following the gubernatorial run-off election Governor-elect Pula Nikolao Pula sent a message of gratitude and acknowledgment to Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga and Lt. Governor Laapui Talauega.

“I am writing to express my heartfelt respect and appreciation for your dedication throughout this election campaign, as we say in our culture, ‘E taa’alo tama ae o uso’ (We compete but we are brothers).

“Your commitment to public service and your vision for our community has not gone unnoticed, and your efforts have undoubtedly made a meaningful impact on the democratic process, and we thank you.”

The Governor-elect wrote, “As we move forward, I want to assure you that Lt. Governor-elect HC Pulu Ae Ae Jr. and I are committed to working for the benefit of all the residents of American Samoa. I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you. I humbly request to meet with you November 25, 2024 at 10 am due to unforeseen travel obligations.”

Pula added, “Your voice is important, and I sincerely hope we can find ways to unite in serving our community’s best interests. Thank you once again for your service and dedication. I wish you and the Honorable Lt. Governor La’apui Talauega Ale and your families continued success and prosperity in all your future endeavors.”

Both Pula and Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga were on last night’s Hawaiian Air flight.
