The Arts Council’s Holiday Music Festival is still on, but the ASG caroling program—which has been part of the festival for many years—has been cancelled.
There’s been no official announcement from the Governor’s Office about the cancellation, but directors have told employees that there will be no Christmas caroling this year based on a statement by Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga at a cabinet meeting last Thursday.
The Governor is reported to have said that he did not want the Christmas program, to interfere with the transition activities and instructed that the singing by departments be cancelled.
A November 19th memo from the Governor’s Chief Of Staff, Loa Tuimavave Laupola about the ASG caroling program included a schedule of performances by ASG departments and authorities December 11-13th.
Meanwhile, the Arts Council Holiday Music Festival is still on from December 8-10. 18 groups have registered for the festival.
