Tafuna JROTC Warrior cadets and instructors have broken another record. They topped the score board among other 8th brigade JROTC schools with a 99.1% in the JROTC Program of Accreditation on February 18, 2016,.
The exciting news was announced by Mr. Pratt, the 8th brigade inspector.
The six categories in which Tafuna was inspected are:
- Staff Task Force
- Continuous Improvement Project Briefing;
- Service Learning Briefing;
- Cadet Portfolios and Interview;
- Unit Report;
- Instructor Portfolios and Interview.
The Task Force was also inspected on In-Ranks and Color Guard on January 15, and obtained a perfect score.
JROTC Program of Accreditation checks if JROTC programs achieve learning, and that there’s improvement.
It ascertains that the six standards of quality are upheld.
Tafuna Warriors JROTC have been awarded Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) the highest award a JROTC unit can receive.
One of the benefits of HUD, is that Tafuna can nominate a candidate for any of the prestigious military academies.
Senior Army Instructor at Tafuna, Sgt Major Samana Veavea paid compliments to Task Force Commander, Cadet Colonel Charlene So’oa’emalelagi, her staff, the battalion commanders, company commanders and all cadets for preparing well for the inspection, resulting in the outstanding achievements.
Force Operations Officer Cadet Major Fairlyn Kelemete was also proud of Tafuna’s results.
He says, “The challenges and obstacles we faced during our preparation and execution of the JPA was not an exaggeration.
“We all put so much effort into every facet of the JPA, and our results reflected our hard work and dedication. I salute every cadet in the Task Force for demonstrating the ‘Warrior Spirit.’”
Leone High School was the first JROTC program inspected and excelled in all areas with a score of 95.7%. Leone was awarded with the Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD).
Commander Cadet Colonel So’oa’emalelagi thanked the principal, administrators, counselors and staff of Tafuna High and JROTC instructors Samana, Asalele, Bryant and Solaita for ensuring their success.
She said, “ Again, we ‘stepped up to the challenge.’ Because of our outstanding performance, we will not be assessed again for three years.”
