Humans of American Samoa aim to change perception

It was American novelist, editor and professor at Princeton University, Toni Morrison, who said, “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet you must be the one to write it.”

Sisters Marcella and Allyson Fitisone, along with friends Lance Te’i and Manu Thomas have taken that to heart

They are writing about American Samoans from all walks of life to illustrate that we as a people are much more than what is portrayed in the media.

Last summer while vacationing here at home from their studies at Berea College, Kentucky, the Fitisone sisters and their friends launched the Face Book page Humans of American Samoa

As Marcella explains the page tells the stories of accomplished, influential, and interesting American Samoans and also present their points of view on topical issues and events.
