The total purse for the 2018 Flag Day Fautasi Race was $40,000.
The nine fautasi that raced in the long boat regatta on Monday picked up their checks from the Office of Samoan Affairs today.
The fastest fautasi Fuao from Vatia received $10,000.
Aua’s Paepaeulupoo got $8,000 for 2nd place.
Manu’a’s Matasaua received $6,000 for 3rd.
Taema of Leone got $5,000 for 4th place.
Fealofani Samoa of Fagasa received $4,000 for 5th place.
Iseula of Fagatogo received $3,000 for 6th place.
And the 8th place Aeto received $2,000.
Cash prizes of $1,000 were given to the US Army Reserve which finished 7th and the Fono fautasi which finished last.
