On Saturday the American Samoa High School Athletic Association’s 2018 football season opened up at the Veterans Memorial Stadium with the presence of the Governor and LT Governor and other ASG officials.
Opening remarks came from ASHAA’s Rod Atafua.
The first game saw the Tafuna Warriors beating the defending champions Samoana Sharks by a final score of 28 to 14 while the second game had Leone falling to Fagaitua. The final score in that one was Vikings 46 Lions 28.
Nu’ulli Voc Tech was on a bye and will play this coming weekend.
This weekend the JV begins on Friday evening at 4 with the Sharks versus the Warriors
Saturday has a slate full of games starting at 8AM with the Warriors taking on the Wildcats, followed by JV Sharks playing JV Vikings followed by the Varisty version of Samoana and Fagaitua.
Unofficial standings so far has Fagaitua at the top spot, Tafuna is in 2nd place is Tafuna
3rd is Leone and 4th is Samoana.
That is based on wins and losses from this past weekend and also total points scored.
Again that is unofficial but based on the traditional metric used by ASHAA.
Also note that Voc Tech is not yet ranked because they don’t play until this weekend.
