A total of $62,000 was spent on cash prizes for the 2019 Flag Day Fautasi Race.
And all of the fautasi including the ones that couldn’t race because they were inundated with water received prizes.
1st Place Paepaeulupoo from Aua – $11,000
2nd Place Manulele Tausala of Nuuuli – $10,000
3rd place Fuao from Vatia – $9,000
4th Place Taema from Leone – $8,000
5th Place – Iseula of Fagatogo – $7,000
6th Place – Fealofani Samoa II, Fagasa – $5,000
7th Place – Fetu o le Afiafi, Fagaalu – $4,000
Of the fautasi that didn’t race Matasaua of Manu’a and Aeto of Pago Pago received $3,000 each while the Fono fautasi was awarded $2,000.
According to Chief of Staff Fiu Johnny Saelua, a report of the Flag Day spending is being compiled.
