Elisara Elisara appointed new Chief of Customs

Treasury has a new Customs Chief.

He is Mr. Elisara Elisara, a military retiree.

An announcement from Treasury says Mr. Elisara brings 25 years of military services experience with the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander.

He is from the village of Vailoa and was a graduate of Leone High School.

The Treasury announcement said, “We wish to thank Governor Lolo Moliga and Lt. Governor Lemanu Mauga for their continued leadership and support for the Customs Division. We also wish to thank HR Director Esenaeiaso Liu and the Department of Human Resources for facilitating the recruitment and selection process for the Chief of Customs.

“We wish Mr. Elisara great success in his new role and we firmly believe with his experience, dedication and leadership, he, along with the Customs Division leadership team, will lead the Customs Division forward to accomplish its mission and objectives. ”

Since the resignation of former Customs Chief Liavaa Moevao in July of last year to be a CCCAS pastor in Huntington Beach, California, Deputy Chief of Customs Iuliano Falaniko has been acting head of the Customs Division.
