Tanu wins 2 silver, Tilali adds a bronze

American Samoa now has six medals with two silver and one bronze won yesterday, the 6th day  of competition at the Pacific Games in Samoa.

Weightlifter Tanumafili Jungblut won two silver, placing second in the clean and jerk division, and also overall standings. The PG competition also doubled as the Oceania Weightlifting Championships and Tanu also got a silver medal for the Oceania competition.

Tanu is our only weightlifter at the Pacific Games and was our flag bearer for the opening ceremony. His girlfriend Monica Afalava is his coach.

And swimmer Tilali Scanlan won bronze in the 100 meter breast stroke. Her time was 1:15:08. Fiji won gold with a time of 1:13:79 and Tahiti won silver with a time of 1:14:23.

So the medal tally so far for American Samoa is 3 silver and 3 bronze.

The first silver was won by Tilali Scanlan in the 50 meter breast stroke and the other two bronze were from our women’s tennis team, Charity Sagiao and Kalani Soli and our women’s beach volleyball team, Litara Keil and Devenney Pulu.

Our women’s basketball team is undefeated and tops their pool. Last night they annihilated PNG 100-41. Our girls advance to the semi finals.
