Today, Tafuna High School administration, faculty and students celebrated the opening of their newest campus addition with Governor Lolo Moliga, First Lady Cynthia Moliga, Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga and cabinet members in attendance.
Until the building’s completion, this part of the campus was an off-limits construction zone since its groundbreaking in October 2018.
Preceding the dedication of the new building, Governor Lolo Moliga and Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga held the monthly cabinet meeting in one of the ground level classrooms.
Rev Tusi Seanoa of Petesa-Uta Congregational Christian Church (EFKAS), a member of Tafuna High’s first graduating class in 1986, gave the invocation.
According to DOE Director Dr. Ruth Matagi-Tofiga, it’s the first of the newly built school buildings on any campus to house a computer lab and a classroom dedicated to students with special needs.
She thanked the Governor for his vision, DOI representative Lydia Faleafine Nomura. for CIP funding, DPW Director Faleosina Fai’ai and contractor Nana’s Construction, Mrs. Fiapa’ipa’i Fruean for a job well done.
Director Dr. Matagi-Tofiga joined Rev. Seanoa and Governor Lolo in urging the students to take pride in their campus and to take care of their new building.

The initial construction budget for the building was $885,000.
Requests for a computer lab and the special education classroom were made and changes to the building plans to accommodate these requests resulted in the total building cost of $1,088,000.
Also dedicated today were new classrooms for Manulele Elementary built by Happy Construction.
