Samoa is continuing flights from New Zealand even though new Coronavirus cases are reported in the country, but is mposing more stringent travel and quarantine requirements.
Samoa’s Ministry of Health has issued a special advisory for people traveling from New Zealand as it continues efforts to maintain a COVID-19 free environment.
All travelers from outside of New Zealand must spend 28 days in New Zealand before departure to Samoa and must meet all requirements before they can board flights to Samoa.
Travelers must be tested for Coronavirus 3 days before arrival and must also have a medical examination by a registered medical practitioner three days before arrival.
Passengers will not be allowed to board the plane if they have tested positive or have not been tested.
Boarding will also be denied to passengers who have a cough, fever, a sore throat or flu like symptoms.
Hard copies of all test results must be presented before passengers are allowed to board the plane.
A 14-day quarantine period is mandatory for all passengers who must bring all necessary items like toiletries and may only check in one piece of luggage.
Director General of Health Leausa Dr Take Naseri said everyone in quarantine will be responsible for their dinners as government is only providing breakfast and lunch.
People on special diets will have to make their own arrangements for meals.
The advisory says all children under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must provide all necessary immunization documentation.
