Local construction company, Pentagon Samoa, took part in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safe and Sound Week, August 10-16.
The goal of OSHA’s annual event is to encourage employers to implement workplace safety initiatives as well as highlight workers’ contributions to improving safety.
Pentagon Samoa, the only American Samoa company to participate in the nationwide event, provided safety training to its employees throughout the week.

Pentagon Samoa’s management & employees engaged in daily safety training on topics such as personal protective equipment, fall protection, electrical safety, & ladder safety to name a few.
The event culminated Saturday Aug. 16th with an early morning employee prayer service and the presentation of a Certificate of Recognition by OSHA to Pentagon Samoa in recognition of it’s commitment to workplace safety and health. A virtual coin was also sent via email.
Pentagon Samoa Chief Compliance Officer, Mata’itusi Marshall, presented the certificate and virtual coin to President and CEO Taupau who handed it to the company’s management team and employees in recognition of their hard work in improving safety and health performance.
