Beginning Monday, the Kanana Fou high school and elementary school will close their campus as they move all instruction online for the next two weeks.
The move is a precautionary response to the arrival of the first repatriation flight from Honolulu on Monday afternoon.
The change in classes was confirmed by the chairman of the Board of Education for the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa, (CCAS) Rev. Fa’ata’a Eleasalo.
He said the CCCAS schools will suspend in person classes for two weeks while they observe the outcome of the first repatriation flight.
Rev. Fa’ata’a said they will hold virtual classes during that time and students have been given packets of school work to take home.
The chairman of the CCCAS Education Board said they will decide how to proceed after the two weeks is over and their actions will depend on the outcome of the repatriation flight and the associated response.
The two schools have an enrollment of about 300.
