Someone or some people wrote obscene graffiti on all six school buildings at Tafuna High School over the weekend.
Thankfully through the quick response of the Director of Education and deputy director, THS Principal, Tutuila Togilau, staff, and parents, the graffiti was painted over when students reported to school this morning,
Principal Togilau said the graffiti was probably done ion Friday night or early Saturday morning.
One of the vice principals who was there early to open the school to prepare for ASVAb called her.
The principal said after she arrived on campus the Department of Public Safety was called.
Director of Education Talauega, secondary division leaders and faipules were also contacted.
DOE Director Talauega and Deputy Folau Teofilo Faafetai “immediately took action to help out with the situation by delivering paint to the school,” said the THS principal.
Yesterday, Sunday, maintenance workers, teachers, students, parents, and Ituau Rep Logoituau Mark Atafua were at the school to help out with the clean up.
“We are very grateful to all for their support,” said Ms. Togilau.
At the moment there are no solid suspects although the principal says they’re received calls from people dropping names, “but not confirmed yet.”
The school leaders are talking with students if they have any information on “such a cowardly act.”
Once suspects are found, they will be dealt with “appropriate disciplinary action,” she assured.
The school has surveillance cameras however they are not in the area which was defaced.
Ms Togilau is asking the public for help with information on this incident.
“Please let the DPS or Tafuna High School know.”
She’s also requesting government leaders to please replace the school fence, provide additional surveillance cameras, and maybe a night security to help prevent such incidents.
