The body of a man who went fishing last night washed ashore at Vatia early this morning.
This was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety Foifua Foifua Jr. He told KHJ News the man is believed to have died from shark bites.
Police received a call from Vatia early this morning that the man’s body had washed ashore.
“He had gone spearfishing and had tied a string of small fish as bait around his waist which may have attracted the shark(s),” said the Deputy Commissioner.
The man who was single lived with the family of a church minister in Vatia Village.
