Aoloau was aglow last night with the launch of the village’s Christmas lights program.

Over the last week, members of the community have worked diligently to erect dozens of trees, walls and other decorations.

The festivities officially kicked off at sundown yesterday with a short program before the village council. At that point, the lights were turned on and music was shared by all in attendance.

Hundreds of people traveled up the mountain to see the colorful decorations which extended for miles starting from Mapusaga Fou all the way up to Aoloau and A’asu.

The displays have grown in magnitude each Christmas season.

This year, dozens of trees and displays were adopted by businesses, schools and clubs.

The public is able to see the lights each night through the New Year.
