The CEO of the LBJ Tropical Medical Center, Faumuina John Faumuina, has resigned.
He handed in his resignation to Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga yesterday and it’s effective Saturday.
Efforts to reach Faumuina this morning were nnit successful but two team leaders at LBJ confirmed that he had handed in his resignation.
He reportedly cites personal and health reasons for his decision to step down.
Senior hospital staff say however that Faumuina has had run ins with the new hospital board and this may have been a factor in his decision to resign.
Faumuina has served two different times and under different administrations as CEO of the LBJ Hospital.
His latest contract as CEO was renewed two years ago.
As of this morning no one had been appointed as Acting CEO.
