Seven in 2023 Flag Fautasi Race

Seven fautasi are confirmed for the 2023 Flag Day celebration, the first fautasi race to be held since 2019.

Lanes have been drawn and the prize money have also been announced.

Lane 2 Fealofani, Fagasa
Lane 3 Matasaua, Manu’a
Lane 4 Aeto, Pago Pago
Lane 5 Manulele Tausala, Nuuuli
Lane 6 Paepaeulupoo, Aua (Defending Champs)
Lane 7 closest to Aunuu Iseula o le Moana, Fagatogo

The race takes place Saturday, April 15, at 7 am and will be 7 miles long, weather permitting.

The prizes are:
1st-$20,000
2nd- $17,000
3rd-$15,000
4th-$13,000
5th-$10,000
6th-$8,000
7th-$6,000

The winning fautasi will also be awarded the Lealaifuaneva Peter Reid Perpetual Cup, named in the memory of perhaps the most successful captains in fautasi racing.

The cup was donated by the children of the late senator, businessman and philanthropist.

In addition, the Reids are also donating half of the $20,000 prize money for the winning fautasi.
