Preparations are underway for the Swains Island Flag Day to be held May 13 on Swains Island.
Last Thursday, the Manu’atele left with a 33-member team led by Swains Faipule Su’a Alex Eli Jennings, on a 200-mile journey to Swains Island.
The team consists of 6 members from the Department of Health including Dr. Ronald Yip, 3 members from the American Samoa Telecommunication (ASTCA) Authority who will set-up a command post and communications center for the advance party, 3 employees of the American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA) who’s main objective is to power the facilities, and an 8 man-team from the Department of Public Works to assist with site preparation.
The Manu’atele had a 14-man crew on board. The vessel returned to Tutuila after dropping off the advance party. Plans are for Governor Lemanu and an ASG delegation to travel to Swains on May 11, when he returns from the InvestUSA Summit in Maryland, for the Swains Island Flag Day on May 13.
